Our team have had a very busy few weeks training in preparation for our new home opening very soon!
One of the team building activities which was a huge hit was the ‘Birthday line up game’ which required the group lining up in the order of their birthdays (month and day) without talking!
Staff involved utilised body language, hand gestures and eye contact to communicate, which is something they could apply to their daily responsibilities too.
Practising forms of non-verbal communication to support the young person in their care is key for our team, for instance, upset may be indicated by crying or happiness by clapping.
We’re really looking forward to seeing our staff directly apply these skills within their work once we open the home.
